Sustainable management

The Andermatt Swiss Alps Group seeks to continue to grow and increase profitability in order to be able to finance sustainable investments in this way. In addition, the company has a fully integrated value chain across all business activities, as well as prudent corporate governance that utilises forward-looking risk management.

Corporate governance

The core of the business model of the Andermatt Swiss Alps Group is the integrated value chain. It enables us to use synergies and to make processes leaner. In addition, all organisational units share a common vision.

Sustainability strategy

The destination Andermatt thrives because of pristine nature and the impressive mountain environment. With its sustainability strategy, Andermatt Swiss Alps is committed to ensuring that coming generations will also find an extraordinary home in the Ursern Valley.

In addition, Andermatt Swiss Alps makes an active contribution toward the careful use of resources. We seek to reduce waste, for example by giving preference to multipacks in roughly 20 catering operations. The use of plastic is kept to a minimum, and for that reason, beverages in the mountain restaurants are not sold in PET bottles. We give preference to organic food and products that are produced fairly and sustainably, and we are committed to preventing food waste by recycling scraps at the restaurants. Materials are recycled in all units where possible.

Protecting nature and the environment

By employing high-density construction, Andermatt Swiss Alps is working to ensure that the loss of plant and animal habitat is as small as possible. By cultivating indigenous plants and protecting green spaces, we are promoting biodiversity. The golf course, which was designed so as to be in harmony with nature, mainly works with natural pesticides, thus keeping the environmental impact of pesticides and fertilisers to a minimum.

Reducing our carbon footprint

Andermatt Swiss Alps powers ski lifts and snow-making equipment in a climate-neutral manner. Its hotels have been built in accordance with low-energy standards. It purchases CO2-neutral heat and electricity to operate them. The Andermatt Swiss Alps Group is striving to further reduce its carbon footprint and energy consumption in the coming years on a continual basis. For example, by purchasing electrically powered snow groomers, the SkiArena is taking a further step toward climate neutrality.

Assuming social responsibility

Andermatt Swiss Alps has created more than 500 jobs at its three locations in Altdorf, Andermatt, and Sedrun. We have a sustainable personnel strategy, offer equal opportunity, and support training and career planning. As part of our “Generation Andermatt” initiative, we have the goal of adding 30 apprenticeships in the next 10 years and creating additional internships. In that way, we ensure a supply of up-and-coming talent and create carrier opportunities for young people in the region. Together with our employees, we also support local environmental protection projects.

Sustainability in all areas

Sustainability is a core aspect of the social model of the Andermatt Swiss Alps Group and is accordingly a part of the strategy of all units. For far-sighted business planning, we pursue active innovation management, focusing in one respect on digitalisation, which we are intensively pushing ahead with.
