Andermatt takes on village character around Piazza Gottardo
November 20, 2018
The apartments in House Alpenrose will soon be handed over to their owners, and Restaurant Biselli on the ground floor will also be finished by mid-December.
The first phase around Piazza Gottardo is winding up. With the completion of Hotel Radisson Blu Reussen, with 179 rooms, the Gotthard Residences, with 65 suites and apartments, and apartment house Alpenrose, Andermatt Reuss is now taking on village character and becoming a lively place. The Victorinox store is already open, and a Mammut store in alliance with Imholz Sport AG will open on the ground floor of House Edelweiss before Christmas.
The interior build-out of Restaurant Biselli on the ground floor of House Alpenrose is also progressing on schedule. In addition to the restaurant, a bakery, a chocolateria and a small shop are integrated. In summer, the restaurant in Piazza Gottardo will become a garden restaurant. The piazza also features a fountain and attractive planting. A stairway is being built between House Alpenrose and the Gotthard Residences that leads directly to the train station and the historic centre.
Another highlight is the spacious and modern wellness and fitness zone which includes two saunas, steam bath and 13 treatment rooms for wellbeing and healthcare therapy. The fitness area is equipped with state-of-the-art Technogym equipment. The 25-metre-long public indoor pool with separate children's play pool features windows that extend to the floor in order to give a view of the mountains of the Ursern Valley.
Restaurant Spun is dedicated to carefully composed Swiss specialities and traditional fine Italian cuisine. The Bär Bar is ideal for a snack or a small in-between meal. The adjacent concert hall is currently being expanded to seat up to 700 guests. The design is by the British Studio Seilern Architects, which specialises in acoustic perfection. The concert hall will be inaugurated in spring 2019.
Two more apartment buildings are being built: both Fuchs and Eisvogel have been under construction since this summer and autumn. At House Fuchs, only the roof remains to be installed, and at Eisvogel the first upper floor is already covered. The mild autumn allowed the construction work to advance considerably.
